About the "ORIGIN"
Learning Companion
Lesson Two Lesson One Lesson Three What Is Caste?

Ava DuVernay’s Peabody Award-winning narrative change collective, ARRAY, invites you to explore our learning companion based on the critically acclaimed feature film “ORIGIN.” Created and independently produced by DuVernay, the story of “ORIGIN” dissects the roots of injustice and the origins of human discontent beyond the arbitrary constructs of race, gender, age, religion and class. From the Dalits of India and the Jews of Germany to Black people in America, this two-hour-long drama celebrates triumph over obstacles and reminds audiences how we are more alike than different.

The ORIGIN 101 learning guide builds upon the film’s themes, challenging learners to reframe the way they see their communities, rebuild their relationships with their classmates and neighbors and take action, while bearing witness to caste systems around the globe.

Use it in the classroom, with groups and organizations or at the kitchen table.

Never stop learning.
